This dialog sucks. I know the question has already been raised! I’m simply teh UX guy who doesn’t like it.
Here are some ideas: since the shell is heavily integrated with the product, you can:
- schedule the update to be performed before the shell is started, on log-on
- detach the shell extension from the core functionality
- AT LEAST change the url to be the proper one so that we immediately get the new version instead of going through 3 pages on the site
